AS-980, How much is this equipment worth?

I have a Akai AS-980, 4 channel receiver from 1975 in MINT condition. Rarely used, if ever, the whole time of ownership. It was passed down from my father who was the original owner. My question is: How much is it worth? I\'ve looked elsewhere and haven\'t been able to find prices or people interested in purchasing it. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hi Racheal, I just purchased an Akai AS-980 recently on E-bay for $62. This, however this was a non-working unit, so yours would be worth considerably more. I would think that yours should be worth at least 2-3 times that much, plus shipping. Several factors to consider is cosmetics, functions properly working, original manuals, and boxes included. I would certainly be interested in purchasing it. Hope this information helps. Thanks, Barry

I was searching ebay & the internet for anything about this receiver & found your posting here.
I see it was a couple years ago - but do you still have this receiver by chance?? It is an increasingly rare unit that I would like to buy if you are interested in selling it - or - I have on maybe to sell for parts if you are looking ....

I also have a As-980 in working condition with the manual and some records. With the receiver there is four Sentry 50 speakers. I would like to sell all of this as it takes up too much space.

I have just restored one AKAI AS-980. It sounds incredible. Everything is functioning and it is in almost mint condition. It has just one knob missing (4CH separation) but I will try to order one from 3D printing company. I hope they will made one for me. I think $62 is realy ridiculous price for that kind of machine and everyone should try to restore it if he have a chance. I am prepared to sell mine, but I believe the price should go over 10 times more. If anyone is inerested we could talk else I would probably put it on e-bay in a time.
