The JansZen Z-412-HP is an electrostatic speaker. It is part of the Z series.
Tommy (April 29, 2004): The 410 was a 10" woof with 4 electrostatic panels. a nice addition to the line. Today, they would go as rears.
James Wong (May 9, 2003): Janszen Z-412-HP hybrid electrostatic speakers, dating from the mid 70's. This particular model is somewhat rare. The Z-412-HP had 4 electrostatic panels at the top, and a 12" woofer at the bottom of the cabinet. They were the top of the line next only to the Z-824-HPs, which were essentially just two of these in double sized cabinets. The Z-412-HP was similar to the Z-412-A, but crossed over at 800Hz instead of 1800 Hz, as did all other lesser Janszen models of this era. Each of the (4) electrostatic panels tilts at a slightly different angle in order to maximize the dispersion pattern.
Steven Majercik (January 12, 2003): I thought your readers may wish to know that Don Kliewer of Winslow Industries, formerly of Janszen, passed away earlier this month. I had had contact with him from time to time in the past. He rebuilt the power supplies for my Z-412-HPs, allowed me to tour his plant, and answered at least a million of my inane questions.
